News Title Are all homes required to have Carbon Monoxide Alarm Detector?
Posted By Mike Williams Plumbing

YES!

Under the new State Law in January of 2007 houses and apartments in Illinois must be equipped with at least one carbon monoxide detector. A property owner or landlord who refuses to comply with the law by installing a carbon monoxide detector could be prosecuted for a Class B misdemeanor.

Exposure to carbon monoxide, which is odorless and colorless, can be fatal and often is traced to a source such as a faulty furnace or automobile exhaust. People who have breathed in too much carbon monoxide may experience symptoms including headache, nausea and dizziness.
